Today I have a review for you of Essie’s Penny Talk!
I’ve had my eye on this one for a while, but I kept talking myself out of buying it because I usually don’t like to splurge on even the slightly more expensive brands. Finally I decided to just go for it. I haven’t seen many other copper colored nail polishes, so it definitely intrigued me. However, I would have preferred for it to be a bit darker. It’s hard to tell in the photos, but the actual color is quite a bit brighter than this. It’s more the shade of a brand new penny rather than a penny that’s been around for a while, which is I guess more what I was expecting. I also had a hard time applying it in a way that didn’t leave it super streaky. I still didn’t get it all the way smooth, though tomorrow I plan to try a sponging technique that I found to even some of that out. It’s pretty opaque with one coat and solid with two. Overall, I would have expected more from such a highly reputed brand. If I’m going to pay $8 for a bottle of nail polish, I would hope it would impress me more than the $2 ones I usually buy. Though it is an interesting color that will be good to have in my collection. I’ll give it 6.5/10.
I’ll let you know how it holds up with tip wear and chipping.
This was my first review, so make sure to let me know if you liked it, and if you’d like to see more from me!
